Ansel Adams Wilderness – Sierra Nevada
This trip into the Eastern Sierra Nevada was into the Ansel Adams Wilderness. We hiked into the Wilderness along the Pacific Crest Trail from Agnew Meadows up to Thousand Island Lake where we spent two beautiful nights. The first night was mostly clear allowing the Milky Way image in the collection. The next day was filled with exploration around Thousand Island Lake watching the clouds roll over the Sierra Crest with a few sprinkles and brief hale. The next leg of the trip took us south along the John Muir Trail around Thousand Island Lake, past Garnet Lake to the Shadow Lake trail up Shadow Creek to Ediza Lake where we spent an additional two nights. At Ediza Lake two days of exploration proved not to be enough as the area is amazing with creeks, waterfalls and high mountain lakes just below the Sierra Crest. I was also fortunate to have interesting skys to accentuate the landscape.
