El Capitan has been photographed form many angles, This is one i had not seen before in my many years of visiting the park, The early morning light, the reflection in the still Merced River all combined to make a very busy and complex scene, difficult to capture in a photo, but what a sight!

Yosemite is always a magical place. The day after a winter storm it is at its best! After a 5:30 am departure from Fresno we were treated with a spectacular day photographing the park. My Photo Buddy Michael and i made several trip through Yosemite Valley during the entire day capturing the changing light. This post is the first of several to come from this day, grouped by subject. The first series is Yosemite Falls, with Half Dome and El Capitan to come in the coming days.

Yosemite is always a treat especially af ter a a storm.
A visit to Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia Trees in Yosemite National Park in Jan without snow is very uncommon. Photographing these giant trees is a challenge. These shots required great distance or wide angle lenses. These were shot with a 20mm lens, i wish i had the 14mm i rented in December, i just may have to buy one.
Just missed the peak color changes, but none the less was rewarding to visit.
