The Sierra Nevada Foothills are alive with color this early spring – After several years of drought and a wet January the wildflowers are taking advantage now of the early warm conditions to come alive. Near Fresno California the San Joaquin River winds its way up into the Sierra Nevada mountains. Along the way the steep canyons offer excellent conditions for wildflower blooms. Occasional an area explodes into a SUPERBLOOM. I had the good fortune to explore one such bloom this past weekend (Feb 2016). California Poppies, Lupines, Wild Mustard, and Fiddleneck among many others .
The Cinque Terre (Italian pronunciation: [ˈtʃiŋkwe ˈtɛrre]) is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. It is in the Liguria region of Italy, to the west of the city of La Spezia. “The Five Lands” comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (Wikipedia)
The Cinque Terre is located along the north west coast of Italy. Five small communities located on hillside connected by hiking paths and a rail line are quaint and beautiful towns for photography. I have the opportunity to participate in a Photo Workshop in Nov 2015 as was treated with fruitful fodder for the eyes. The focus was on sunrise sunset and blue hours – looked pretty good!
I took some additional time before a business meeting to extend my trip to the SEattle area. Two nights and three days at Paradise Inn in Mt Rainer NP provide some glorious opportunities for hiking photograpy.
